  • My son's PIR was 8-26-11. We had the day with him and had to be back by 6pm. He left the base at 2:30am for O'Hare and the flight to San Antonio for Corpsman School was at 6:30am. The class doesn't start for a week. He got his room assignment and room mate, a guy from his division at RTC. They are doing various jobs but have some freedom. He won't have liberty for 2 weeks. We gave him his cell phone and charger. The Petty Officer told them that while at RTC, they were not allowed "If he was to see them", with a wink. SO, turn them off and keep them out of sight until at the Air Port. Look up the school on the Net. Very impressive. HOT 100+.

  • many times not until PIR......as was in my case twice....

  • What is the soonest my wife and I could possibly know how much time our son will have from graduation day to going to A school?

  • No, he will have time, usually a week. The classes start every Monday in most "A" schools.

  • Jim, does that pretty much mean he'll 'grad & go' that day?  I guess there's no way to know just yet.  Am trying to figure what to do booking a flight for the wife and I.  Don't want to stay 2 extra days in G.L. if he's gone Friday afternoon....

  • Fort Sam Houston now, just closed the Great Lakes School July 28, 2011
