Navy Reserves.

So, my boyfriend went to bootcamp last monday. where he would be going off to schooling after to be an Hull Tech an he also told me that he has a 4 year contract ?

I was talking to someone yesterday an they told me thats not right. That a hull tech isn't a reserves job its only active duty & also navy reserves contracts are usually 6-8 years long. not 4?
But my boyfriend wouldn't lie to EVERYONE about it. So now i'm freaking out. Is this right?
Is a hull tech a navy reserves job, an could his contract only be for 4 years ? Or is something not right. Please help me out cause I'm going crazy not knowing whats going on..
