Being an ex-Sonar Tech on a submarine the Airdale world is all new to me. I did find a great PBS documentary that has been uploaded to Youtube. It is simply called 'Carriers'. It came out some years ago, but it shows/explains what each different Airdale rate does on a daily basis. Here is the link to the first episode:

What is an Airdale? Is that a rating? My son just graduated for Aircrew Candidate School. Is he an airdale?

Laughing Hans as a whole bunch of us have that set of DVDs and have poured over them many times!!!! The series gets a little tedious with all the personal non-Navy stories, but it is a great series!
