  • Wow...two at once has to be tough. My son is there now...PIR 1/14/2011. It is hard and that box is awful like they said...even though I expected it. We have received two letters plus the form letter, but no calls. I have heard from others whose child has been in longer that they have received nothing but the form letter. Something about their division 'screwing up'. Unfortunately, everybody pays when one makes a mistake. So the one thing you can depend on is that nothing about this time is dependable. Hang in there and I hope everything goes well for your kids. My son really loves the letters and has requested photos of family, dogs etcetera...and told us those are very important to him. So I recommend those as well.
  • Terry, Jim is absolutely right - my wife and I cried worse than when we dropped him off at kindergarten! My son has been at GL since November 3rd. It is very tough at first, you spend much time figuring everything out, his schedule, when to expect what and so on. It gets easier as the time goes by, anticipating PIR and especially after the first letter. BE WARNED...when your "kid in a box" arrives it really sinks in! I can't imagine having two going in! Good luck, lean on family and of course us here, your new friends at navyfordads.com. P.S. - Our son's recruiter gave us the wrong address for J, but he got our letters anyway, so write, write, write! It meant a lot to our son to see a stack of letters when the mail finally reaches them in week 2 or 3.
  • Yes two going This one today was MA the one in Feb2011 is HM they wanted to go together but one got job before the other so two PIRs and two trips to GL next year
