Is this just an army term or a military term. And if so, after they graduate a school and receive their shipping orders will some just have assignments or are they all considered deployments. I know there first tour is sea and 48 months. Just curious the wording. Someone posted on another site that Flma can be used when your son/ daughter is being deployed.

Deployment refers to movement from your Sailor's "home base". Not all sailors will deploy during their 4 years. Some are land based and will remain stationary.
I'm not exactly sure the terms either. I always say my son is stationed in Guam. I think when they are actually out at sea they are considered deployed. Not really sure but that's my assumption.
