Just received our son's box this afternoon. One thing I'm curious about..the lists I've seen with items they are allowed to take with them to boot camp include a pocket Bible. He sent his home in the box -- it's actually the one put out by Military Ministry that is packed in rapid deployment kits (about 3"x4"). I'm just curious if, perhaps, it was too large, or if the list is not necessarily 100% accurate? Sometimes my son errs on the side of being conservative, so maybe he just put it in the box to make sure it wasn't an issue...? He also taped a picture of his girlfriend inside the cover, so could that have been an issue?

Except that the one he sent home has his girlfriend's picture taped inside the front cover! Doh!

or he got a 2nd one at the airport and sent one home
Yep -- that's the list I had seen, so we figured it was ok. Probably like Paul says, he probably felt/understood he couldn't keep it in the heat of the situation -- no biggie.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about it, just wondering if somehow it really wasn't allowed, or was just him thinking he didn't want to risk it.

look- they are a ton or pressure to do things in a hurry and under a ton of stress ("what am I getting myself into?"). I wouldn't stress too much about it...he'll have the opportunity for Religious guidance on Sundays.....
That's what I'm curious about. He took it with him with that understanding.

Was he aware he could keep the bible?
