To all of the navydads memebers,Ii would like to let you all know of an idea that Navydads Admin. started here about 6-8 weeks ago.Paul had the idea of business cards with the Navydads logo on the front of the card and the sailors creed on the back.I thought it was an excellent idea so i had some cards made up.About 2000 cards is what i ended up with which was a few more than i had planned on.
If any of you parents would like,i will send you as many or as few as you feel you can use to get the word out about the great site for Navy/Marine parents.I am asking for nothing in return. All i am hoping for is to help E.G,Paul, and Terry and the members of this site to get people to know that there is a place that they can come to if they have questions about what their youngsters are going thru.I know for sure that as my son has gone on his journey thru Navy life it has helped my family out greatly.
If any of you parents are interested you can e-mail me at ksbaker@compprime.com with a mailing address and i will try to get them to you as soon as possible.Thank you for your time.

You need to be a member of Navy Dads to add comments!
Hi David.. Yes,putting them in the recruiters office is one way to get the word out to the families about this great site, but we live in a very small town,in a fairly rural area.We have one recruiters station for the whole county, the largest county in Washington State in terms of square miles. With my life, there is not a lot of time to be running around dropping off cards that may or may not be accepted.Any time I am at a local business I ask them if I can leave a few cards. One other way to get the word out,I believe is for the parents that use this site to either have me send them some cards or have some made themselves.
Also I completely agree with Paul as far as not asking the Navy for help.Placing the cards around, whether it is at a recruiters office , a hardware store,or a grocery store should get out the word.I found this site back in February and have watched the number of members rise steadily so something must be working. And David, thank Paul for the cards idea,i just took it one step further as a way to thank E.G,Paul, and Terry for the time and effort they have put into the site for the rest of us parents.
Have a great week-end.

remember Dave that NavyDads is NOT supported by the Navy in any way.......read through the postings on Frank's blog (CLICK FOR LINK) for disucssion about this very topic. We can do a lot without asking the Navy for their help as payback's can be difficult!
Steve thanks for making the cards I suggest you send them to the recruiters offices and let the keep them on their desk. That is where they will be needed the most!
Hi Jeff,I thought about going down to the recruiters office and dropping off some cards so ppl would have an idea beforehand, but haven't had the time. They don't keep my kind of hours. My son is supposed to be home in about 1 week on leave and he has to spend some time helping out the recruiter so i am gonna have him drop some off down there.
Also,i have been posting them on bulletin boards around town.Usually about 5 to 10 per stick pin! Also just word of mouth to people i know that have family in the Navy or about to go in.

Steve, that sounds like a great idea. I was just wondering how to reach the recruit or family member early on. My wife and I were watching TV and saw the N4M ad. She went online and was ecstatic! The next day I wondered if a site existed for Dads, googled Navy Dads, and found it. That was less than two weeks before PIR. I doubt ND can afford TV airtime. Would it be possible to display a sign and a card holder at MEPS? Perhaps other military, Naval, or sailing sites could display the badge. I don't know anything about how all that works. Thanks for your efforts. Jeffry
