Phone calls

I had read to have a list of questions nearby when your recruit calls. I got a surprise 9 minute call and had nothing, Conversation was fine, but I got off wishing I would have filled in some gaps. That may be just for me and will eventually answer itself with time, but are there any have to knows or things we might ask such as something they may need. Like I was wishing I asked about what he had done this week or was gas chamber next week. I did ask if he wanted some civilian clothes to wear in the hotel room but he said he had to be in uniform. I just thought I would prepare a list of things I need to know if I get another call before he is done. I know there is a lot I want to know but don't want to take up our time asking things that really are for me and not hum. Any suggestions for things you asked that helped you both out or wished you would have ?

  • Guys....there is basically nothing for you to do at this point. The Navy will provide for all of their needs! Enjoy the time and let them talk...listen and fill in the blanks. It is hard to stand on the sidelines....but that is where you are at right now!

  • Thank you for that information. I'm going to make list for when I get that first call from my daughter.
  • some advice...your sailors are living Navy 24-hrs/day....cut them some slack - they probably want to talk about the real world-- react to their lead
