Well Josh's mom got the letter today with his address. Turns out he's in drill division. According to the NavyforMoms site, 949 is a Flags/Honor Guard division. Stoked that I may be able to get a "sneak peek" at him for the two PIRs prior to his own, but also know that there is an extra workload on him. Good and bad thing....He is easily bored so the added work will keep him busy and hopefully less homesickness (might even get to do some off base events), but less time for rest...I'm sure he'll do fine. Any other parents who's kids PIR that date, whether or not in Drill, be sure to hit me up. Perhaps we'll all get together prior to.

We got the letter the other day. Our son is in Div 949 with the same PIR date.
Very good deal David. Appears our kids are in the same division. Like I said, according to the moms site, 949 is a sticks (state flags and honor guard) division so they will be featured in the two pass in review ceremonies prior to their own. This is a great opportunity to "see" them before they PIR! I am making my travel plans now, driving up from Fl.
We received the first real phone call form our son yesterday. Sounded tired but upbeat. Since he had NJROTC and four years of marching band, he marches very well. However he complains that most of his group cannot march very well.... yet. Everyone gets dinged with extra PT. He said the food was good but really misses being able to take a nap. LOL. We'll he sounds in good spirits and is ready to take what ever they throw at him.
My wife and I also got a letter a couple of days ago. Our son is in div 325(PIR 10/17/14 also). He's getting over a cold, but he says the food is great. Any body else have a sailor in div 325?
Someone told me there might be a Facebook group for Div 949, graduation date 10/17/14. If so, how can I locate it? I searched various times but couldn't find any.
