Friday I got a call from Alex after Battle Stations 21. He was exhausted but fired up at the same time. He told me that he could tell what all went on but would have to kill me. Kidding, of course. He did say flat out that they would not talk about what all went on. Bottom line is, he got his official Navy cap and is excited.
Too all you new dads with family just starting Basic, be assured that they are well taken care of and the Navy wants them to succeed. They invest a lot of time and money into them.
It is hard to do, but you need to write and do it often. Enroll friends and relatives to send them a note. They can only write after about 3 weeks and then only for a short time on Sundays. We got our letters on Thursday. I went onto this site and the Bootcamp Schedule, so I knew what he was doing. i would talk about what was coming up the next week for him and asked about things he went through. I would enclose short downloaded jokes and other material I thought he would be interested in to break up the monotamy of talking about home and the animals, etc.
Best of luck to you and your Recruit.
We are leaving Thursday for PIR on Friday to see our SAILOR graduate.
