Ship 10 - Division 265

Received the form letter from Brian yesterday. His PIR date is 8/19/11. In his 3 short lines he told us that there are 98 SR's in his Division and that Boot Camp was a pain and that he was getting used to it. This experience will make my boy mature real quick. I can't wait to see him in August turned into a sailor. Any other dads with SR's in his Division?

  • Received a call from Brian last night. He can't wait to be done with Boot Camp and is really looking forward to heading to HM school next weekend where he can have a lot more freedom. I'm really happy that he's passed everything so far. Now on to Battle Stations and he'll be a Sailor. I'm counting the days until I see him on Friday.

  • Last weekend was disappointing for our son and us.  He got to call home and my wife and I were unable to answer our phones so we missed his call.  He left a message and was so upset. I felt so bad for him, I know what it's like from my times being deployed and rarely getting to call home and then have no one answer.  It leaves you feeling so alone for a while.  I sure hope he gets to call this weekend and I know my wife and I won't let our phones out of our hands. Well, at least we only have a week and we'll get to see him at PIR.

  • I will watch that in future.

  • please do NOT be more specific about Battle Stations...RTC considers posting schedule info for BS21 an OPSEC violation since it places sailors at a specific location at a specific time.....and THAT is a no-no

  • Ship 10 div 265 has battle stations monday til Tuesday. My son called last weekend & told us. That is last challenge. Should get call sometime after. See yall at PIR. Ramada Inn has meet & greet thursday @ 1800 to 2000.

  • One week away. So excited that PIR is almost here. In his last letter he tells me that the hardest thing for him was the physical training. Like a typical young man, he didn't listen to his recruiter and to me when we told him to take advantage of the months that he was in DEP to prepare. Luckily, he has sucked it in and overcome and is doing very well now. The boys got together and are getting it done. We look forward to seeing him!

  • Jeff, we're still waiting for some real contact. I expect that we'll get something this week. Funny how your son says it's boring, when boot camp is everything but dull. Guess they'll tell us what really went on when we see them at PIR turned into sailors. Can't wait!
  • Hey Marco, our son Alex is also in Ship 10, Div 265.  We actually got a phone call a few days ago and several letters now.  He tells me that boot camp is easy and boring, it's a different story that he tells his mother though.  Of course I know he's gotta show he's tough for his Air Force dad.  I just want all to know how proud of him I am as I'm sure you are proud of your son too.  This experience will deffinately make them mature, that is for sure.
  • My son Anthony is in same division. Got our first real  letter last week. He said they had 10 to 15 minutes to eat andthat was enough time. I was in boot camp in San Diego in 81' and to start we may have got 5 min. to eat.
  • Brian was never one to write too much, but I really hope he'll change his ways and send us a letter soon. We sent him some letters last week and can't wait to hear from him to find out how he's doing. The 19th is getting closer... Counting the days!
