Son Arrived a GL last night

Well my son arrived last night GL and I'm sure he will be extremely busy for a while.

Got the call around 10:30. short conversation.

He's probably awake and think what the heck did I do. lol

I went through boot camp back in 1990 and I tried to prepare him the best I could and the rest is now in his hands along with the Navy.

This is going to take some getting used to but I'm extremely proud.

Cant remember what time the get up, anyone remember?

Thanks

Bill

  • Hi Bill ...

As hoped, my son's form letter arrived today !  We are very relieved and excited for him.  His division is part of training group 22 and the details for that group have been posted to the PIR schedule.

We'll send a few letters out to him in the mail tomorrow !!

Hoping you have also heard from your son.

  • Hi Bill ...

My son's box arrived via FedEx today.  Not sure if yours did also. There wasn't any letter inside with his mailing address and other information. From searching around it seems that the letter is sent separately and should arrive within 3-5 days.

    I'm hopeful it does.

  • Welcome ABoard JP. Hoping the next 8 weeks go good for you guys, and PIR is just around the bend. It's an experience and an adjustment for sure. Or culture shock as my son said. Good luck and thanks for your sons service.
  • Hi Bill,

My son also arrived at GL last evening. We had a similar short (15 seconds) conversation with him once he arrived.  He surrendered his cell phone right then.

Can't imagine what this first full day was like. There's plenty of information on this site that is giving me a pretty good idea of what he is going through.

We're very proud of him and anticipate these next 8 weeks to go by pretty quickly.

  • Bill thanks for your service and good luck to your son. This is a great site. Any time you have a question, just ask. Everyone is here to help or just listen.
  • Mine of course was processed and swore in and was up that Thursday at 6 am, and went to bed Friday night at 22:00. 40 hours for him. Guess it depend on how long they get to sleep the prior day. I can only imagine the experience. He laughed about the video I watched and said that's for the parents to see.
  • they are kept up for about 32 hours to reset all their biological clocks to the same time

  • They do not go to bed at all the first night.
