Son leaves in 4 weeks

Good afternoon Dad's,

I was wondering if any group was active on here and this seems to be the most active group.  My son leaves for RTC on the 5th of January, we are so proud of him and what he's going to be doing.  I have enjoyed reading everyone's posting about boot and PIR that it has helped me and my wife to know what to expect.  Thank you

  • I already have a for page letter ready to go. I'm going to start another one tomorrow so he'll get a couple to start with.
  • I got a call from my son today. He was needing some more information for his background check. He couldn't really visit much but he said all was going well and he liked it so far. he said they were probably going to get to call home in the next couple of weeks.

  • Did you read thru our Great Lakes Lodging Guide in the PIR Group? http://www.navydads.com/group/pirtipshintsandhelps/forum/topics/gre...

  • Alan there are several places great to stay. We are going to stay at the Navy Lodge. It seems to be the closest and most liked as well, I got a lot of good feed back from the Springhill suits Marriott as well. Good luck. I think that whatever choice you make will be a good one.
  • Todd,

Can I ask were you decided to stay while at PIR?  I'm trying to figure it out so I can do some preplanning since my wife and I will be driving in from Arizona for his graduation the beginning of March. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alan. Welcome! My Son arrived at RTC on 1 Dec. I understand where you are coming from when it comes to being proud of your Son. I too am extremely proud of my Son! His PIR date is 22 Jan. We have already made arrangements and reservations. Watching our Sons walk out in their dress Blues will more than likely be one on the best days of our lives! There is great info here and also Navy Moms. Great site as well. Congratulations!
