When should I expect that first letter?

My son shipped out on Dec. 3rd. We've anxiously been awaiting his first letter so that we can put all of our letters in the mail back to him. I was expecting to get it by now. When should I expect it?

    Finally got the "form letter" today. Ship:04 Div:084. Great to get the letter even if it was only to see his handwriting.

    My Son arrived at RTC in 1 Dec. we received the I am at RTC and am ok. We received the "box" about 4 days later. We received his form letter 2 days later. His Mom and sent several letters to him right away. He called a few days ago, but it was only for official duty. He needed additional info for his security clearance. It lasted just a couple of minutes. We still have not received a letter from him. We understand that he is very busy.

    I got the "I'm here" phone call (which I missed) and we got his "box", but no contact otherwise, yet. Maybe today...

    I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

    My son arrived at RTC on Nov 24th.  His form letter was post marked Dec 2nd.  I still haven't gotten a regular letter from him but we've talked on the phone twice in addition to the "I'm here" phone call the night he arrived.
