Where to get information

My son arrived to RTC on 2/23/17, besides the call I haven't recieved any form letter. How long does that usually take? I recieved his personal stuff Tuesday. I know no news is good news, but after ready about so many kids being medically discharged, I'm worried. If there were any issues, do they contact home ASAP or no? He's healthy as far as we know, his mom's a nurse and knows every thing about him. Also how accurate is the graduation dates when the form letter does arrive?

  • Congrats on your sons decision and welcome to the Navy Dad club. Soon you will be a boot camp dad alumnist!
  • Generally- but consider tickets you can change or at least travel insurance.  And look into the Navy Lodge in Great Lakes...close, clean and very reasonable rates.   But once you have dates, don't hesitate on room reservations....things fill up pretty fast. There are links to the Navy Lodge in our PIR group.  https://navydads.ning.com/group/pirtipshintsandhelps

  • OK great, so booking flights and hotels are pretty safe based on the dates

  • Form letter is usually 7-10 days after arrival at RTC.  Unless your sailor fails a test or has other issues that PIR date is pretty firm.
