I have been reading everything I can about where and when a SWCC candidate goes after bootcamp (in our case 5-11 PIR). I am going to book my tickets soon and want to stay until Monday if my son will be around but will leave Saturday if he is flying to San Diego Saturday. Does anyone have a handle on this? I get mixed readings and of course no letters yet and don't know if he even knows..

Yes, that is exactly what happened to my son. I just got a letter explaining he was on ship staff and 45 minute calls were made by his division (812) while he was doing staff duties, and he was not allowed to make a call until much later . After about 10 days he got a 15 minute call.
After serving several years in active duty and reserve duty Navy, I should know better than trying to make sense out of everything.

Guys, just posted a SWCC video. Don't know if you have seen it yet but check it out.
Stacy, my son only got a (less than) 20 min call, while the rest of his DIV (813) got longer ones, because he is on ship staff. If your son didn't call this may be the reason. As my SR explained in a letter, the staff has duties that keep them busy and just fell into slot that allowed him a chance to make the call. Hope you hear from him soon. Best of luck to him and all our recruits.
I didn't actually get to talk to my son but was relayed the information from his wife. I am not sure if he actually had orders or not. I will say that my daughters have been on the Navy Mom's website and they say a couple Moms are also stating that their sons are supposed to get 2 weeks of leave. Yes, I am referring to men out of 812. He said he would not get overnight liberty. Would have to be back by like 10pm.
Hope you hear something soon. Gets pretty nerve racking when you get one letter a week and no phone calls.
Best of luck!!!
So not cool... no phone call from my SB son!!! But glad you heard from yours! Anyway, did he get his actual orders? Your post sounds "official". My son's letter said he thinks he gets two weeks off before going to San Diego and will let me know more later so your post is the best news I've heard yet. It means he'll be home for his 21st bday. Anyway, did he also say if he gets overnight liberty the weekend of his PIR? And just to confirm, he is Div 812, right?

Wow! Can't believe we got our first phone call finally today. We have a 5-11 PIR so that was a killer of a wait while everyone else seems to have had calls. My son is a SWCC candidate and his schedule is to stay in Great Lakes for a week after PIR, then go to San Diego. After getting checked in down there, he is then scheduled to take some of his leave time which seemed a bit odd but that is what he is telling us. Anyway I was just so happy to hear he is doing fine. I have only had 2 letters and he had made no phone calls to anyone until today. My mind was starting to conjur up all sorts of scenarios as to what was going on..Maybe I can now get a decent nights sleep for a change..
Disclaimer****I have been wrong before!!**** but this is what I see, 3 800 div's, 811, 812 & 813. None the 3 wks prior and none the week following Div 813 graduation on 5-18. Divide up those sailors between the NSW groups (swcc, seal, eod, divers, rescue swimmer) I guess around 50 per group (just average) and it looks like a class size. Give 3 / 4 wks to get into top shape and off to San Diego. Of course 811 may ship a week before 812 and 812 & 813 later or they may go in any combination. Short answer, I expect my 813 grad to hit San Diego mid to late June. ****see first sentence**** It is my understanding that sailors report to base early on Sunday of PIR weekend.
To all of you from someone who has had a son in the navy since 2009...... They do everything slowly to a fault. I can't tell you the number of stories I have heard of guys waiting MONTHS for a school to start and they hung out waiting at their last post. That being said of course they could send someone out on Saturday for a school that won't start for months also. (hasn't happened to my son yet, knock on wood)

Yep, we are betting on seeing our sailor all week end.. just from whats been posted here in the past.. but,, "man plans, God laughs."
Mission First ............ and fast boats
I sent an email to RTC regarding the question of whether the SWCC stay in GL after PIR or go direct to San Diego. The reply back stated that normally SWCC candidates stay in GL before going to San Diego but do to the privacy act they cannot reply directly regarding an individual. They also stated that our recruit should be able to tell us. I just haven't had a letter indicating that my son knows yet. No phone call yet either.
