1st Flight

Hi All, my son Tom has started FRAC at Mayport and has told me his first real flight is on Monday at night so needless to say he is really pumped after waiting such a long time (15 months) for this to finally happen. HOOYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll get back afterwards and let you know how it went if anyone here has a son that's getting close to this.

thanks

Danny

  • Thanks Brad, we just had a visit with Tom in Mayport this past week.  He took us all over the base as well as right up to the flight line so we could watch some other crews taking off, landing, practicing autos and all kinds of other stuff, really interesting.  He's had about 4-5 flights at this point but is really "motivated" to improve which I'm sure he will, thanks again, hooyah!

  • Danny, Nice pics of Tom!  He will certainly enjoy flying more than anything else, if he is anything like my son Garrett.  They always feel best when they are "Up".  All the best to Tom as he learns more and more over the next year.  The ramp up is still steep, much to do and prove to the squadron, but with a great attitude he will do just fine I'm sure.  Bravo Zulo!

  • Hi All, just an update, my son Tom had his first flight out of Mayport on Monday night, went up for about 2 hours, had to come in early due to fog but he said he had a blast.  This first one was mostly just a little show and tell.  He said he was a little afraid at first but then rationalized it by saying that while other people are flying around in commercial aircraft, he's in an asskicking helicopter which made him feel totally motivated.  So it was a good first flight, here's a few pics of his preflight.
