July 1st PIR

I have heard through the grapevine somewhere and cannot be sure where I heard this, that because of the huge PIR along with the centennial celebration for the July 1st PIR that the gates would open at 4:30 am as opposed to 6:30 am and that the ceremony would be outdoors instead of inside. Am I correct with this information ?

Thanks,

  • Jim,
How ironic, I'm just hoping that they can fix the anemic, he is keeping his chin up about it tho. It was kind of disheartening to see some sailors at O'Hare yesterday shipping out for A school and knowing my son isn't shipping out. Don't know the timeframe, but still so very proud of my military man !
I have no doubt the Navy knows what they need to do to fix it so he can begin A school.
  • Jim,
Well unfortunately he had to stay at GL because he became anemic during boot camp so he is in THU until they get that fixed so he can continue on to A school in Pensacola, as an air traffic controller. He graduated as an E3 Airman !

  • All I can say to the July 1 PIR is WOW !
The pride of the Sailors and the families was so thick, you could reach out and touch it.
I feel so blessed that I was able to experience it !
It seems so surreal that I made my first post on this site on Mothers day when I dropped him off, and now I'm writing about his graduation !
To all the upcoming parents waiting for their time to see their sailor graduate, it will be one of those times in your life that will leave such an everlasting moment of pride in you that will carry with you to the end !
    HOOYAH !
