  • I don't know...ceremony starts at 0900 sharp! Ends at 1035. Hour and 35 minutes doesn't seem so long. Heck, I've been in church services that have lasted longer!

  • so why don't you watch one of the recorded PIRs and you can watch the events as they occur-   http://www.navydads.com/page/previously-recorded-pass-in-review-videos

I've been in the military for over 20 years, and am familiar with the "hurry up and wait" aspect, but the timeline seems excessively drawn out for this ceremony. Why is that? Guests should be in their seats by 0845, but the Divisions don't arrive until 0920? Families wait 35 minutes for the recruits to arrive? Is the "arrival honors" when the official party arrives? If so, that's an hour families are waiting for the official party to roll in and start the ceremony. Yikes!

  • just a few days ago Jim posted this to a similar question:

This was a message I got from RTC:

"We ask that extra guests remain off base. But, if someone absolutely needs to come to the base, they will not be allowed into the Drill Hall for the graduation but, security will escort them to the Chapel."

This is only used in extreme cases where the extra guest has no where else to wait. Your extra guest should wait at the hotel and you can watch the ceremony right here on the front page of NavyDads.com

  • I have a question I am wondering if someone might be able to help with? Our son's PIR is 12/05, and due to the amount of divisions graduating that day, each SR is only allowed 3 guests to attend the ceremony. We have 4 from our family coming out to see our SR, with 3 going to the ceremony. My question is that we have heard that additional guests may be able to enter the base and watch a live feed of the PIR in the base Chapel, is this true? Since the guest who is not going to the actual ceremony isn't on the 'guest' list, will they be allowed onto the base, and would they just need identification such as a driver's license to do so?
If anyone can provide some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated, we just don't want to bring an extra person with us to the base the morning of the PIR & find out that they won't be admitted onto the base, and viewing the ceremony at the Chapel isn't allowed or done there. Thank you.
  • We have a Great Lakes lodging guide at this link: http://www.navydads.com/group/pirtipshintsandhelps/forum/topics/gre...

and note that in the PIR group we have a ton of links at the tope of the group page with lots of info and suggestions to make PIR easier.....suggest you attend Sarge's Meet and Greet as well....there is info in that area about the event
