Well, we've been at the Richmond facility for two and a half weeks, and I can honestly say it seems like a good "fit" for Nick. All the doctors, therapists, and nurses are very good. Some of his therapies are tougher than others. He always says, "I know I may grumble, but I get it done." (Yes he does, and we are so proud of him)

Fear has moved out and God has moved in. "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalms 27:1

Ironically, gratitude's most powerful mysteries are often revealed when we are struggling in the midst of personal turmoil.
Sarah Ban Breathnach

(1 Pet 3:12 KJV) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
God watches over us. We don't have to worry. We just have to follow, listen and obey.
There is always going to be something that will try to pull on us, distract us and try to take our focus off the important things that we need to get done in a day. It will try to cause us to be so busy and so overwhelmed that we can't even move, instead we are exhausted from our thoughts of trying to figure out how we are going to complete the things that we need to get done.
Before we start our day, ask God to give us His sound mind, and help us to focus and get done the things we need to get done in that day. His eyes are over us, His ears are open to us...Let Him guide us!!

Might have posted this before but worth a second post.

"MILITARY MOMS PRAYER"
Give me the greatness
of heart to see,
The difference between duty
and his love for me.
Give me understanding,
so that I may know,
When duty calls him,
he must go.
Give me a task to do each day,
To fill the time when he's away.
When he's in a foreign land,
Keep him safe in your
loving hand.
And Lord, when duty
is in the field,
Please protect him
and be his shield.
And Lord, when deployment
is so long,
Please stay with me
and keep me strong.

Amen

Happy Easter from Richmond! Well, Nick thoroughly enjoyed the family's visit this weekend (Dad, Loretta, Charlie and Lizzy). Unfortunately they're already in the air on their way home, but the weather was beautiful and so was the conversation while they were here. Nick was able to "break out" yesterday for several hours so we wheeled him over to the Fisher House for some burgers on the grill. The time went by too fast, but we all enjoyed it. There was a friendly game of "Sorry" played on Friday night, and Nick put his younger siblings in their place. On Friday and Saturday, the kids got to go to several of Nicks therapies with him - they saw first hand just how hard he is working to rehab. It's another beautiful day here in Richmond which seems only fitting considering it's the most beautiful day of the year . . . He has Risen! Happy Easter!

60 Seconds for Jesus - His Death

For the next 60 seconds, set aside whatever you're doing and read this. So powerful.

THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS
At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty.

At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals condemned to be crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixion, Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet.

Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long.

The nails were driven into His wrist.
Not into His palms as is commonly portrayed.
There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder.
The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist, that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support himself so that He could breathe.

Both of His feet were nailed together.
Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross.
Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain, so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breathe.
Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.

Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours.

Yes, over 3 hours!
Can you imagine this kind of suffering?
A few minutes before He died,
Jesus stopped bleeding.
He was simply pouring water from his wounds.

From common images, we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side...
But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body.
A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches,
then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear.
But before the nails and the spear, Jesus was whipped and beaten.
The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body.
The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face.
The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp.
Most men would not have survived this torture.

He had no more blood to bleed out,
only water poured from His wounds.
The human adult body contains about 3.5 liters (just less than a gallon) of blood.

Jesus poured all 3.5 liters of his blood;
He had three nails hammered into His members;
a crown of thorns on His head and, beyond that,
a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into His side.

All these without mentioning the humiliation
He passed after carrying His own cross for almost 2 kilometers,
while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones
(the cross was almost 30 kg of weight, only for its higher part,
where His hands were nailed).

Jesus had to endure this experience, so that we can have free access to God.

So that our sins could be "washed" away. All of them, with no exception!

JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR US!

AMEN!

....I got a much needed/waited phone call this am! And I almost cried when I heard her voice. I did that catch of breath and Uhh . she is fine, those on ship never felt the earthquack (too small 4.9) when they got word of the typhoon, they dismissed any un-needed personal 2 hours early. since she was not working the night shift she left, but she stayed on base, didn't try to get home. all is Fine.

@ her situation: she said she was ambushed by 3 officers yesterday and taken to a private room for meeting. Here is what I got from our conversation... the enlisted (command) is not questioning her decission and don't care, while her officers are, wait a min. you're What?! no way!. They are digging and fighting for her. they said everything she's done, every where she's been....her detailer should have been looking for an easier...better orders for her. they cannot Make her re-enlist for 4! They told her to take a few days off (special something or other) to think about this...this is her Life! Command says we need to know by tomorrow. she is sicker then a dog...can hardly talk, says she hasn't slept for 10 days, everytime she'd dry to lay down, she'd get like 2 hours and they'd be waking her....with what she called a "Stupid question" she said if they couldn't make those decissions what were they going to do when she leaves? good question, another reason command is pushing......it's complicated. but command could make her stay there another 3 yrs. win-win for them. But doesn't help her career or her mental state. So not sure what is happening next, I told her to go to bed and feel better, so she can make a clear, informed decission. I feel better having talked to her and knowing someone (her officers) are trying to look out for her and fight for her. they are talking 2 yr. re-enlistment dropping her plus 2 and still going to Washington....working for who she would work for when she gets out.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." - 2 Corinthians 5:7

There is no large and difficult task that can’t be divided into little easy tasks.
Buddhist Saying

In the time of your life, live — so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it.
William Saroyan
The Time of Your Life

I hope these help youall as much as they do me. Take each day at a time, you can get through one more day! where a month, 3 months, year....seems like forever! deal with today-today and tomorrow-tomorrow. Paste on a smile and give plenty of hugs and pretty soon you'll realize, you feel better too!
