Traveling back in time, next week.

My wife and I are traveling out to the west coast to see my son, who is stationed at Port Jueneme now, but we only get 2 1/2 days there. While there, we plan to go down to San Diego to see my old ship, the USS Midway. I would really like for my son to go with us, and this will be an all day trip. We are staying NW of LA. He, my son seems to think he will be in a class and not be able to go for the day (Friday) with us.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to get back out there when he is there, to be able to show him what my Navy was like, on my ship. It is now a museum in SD Harbor. I'm so excited I can hardly sleep, but I fear this once in my lifetime chance may fail due to needs of the service.  I don't want him to miss out on the valuable training our Seabees get, but I do want to be selfish this time and say he's mine for the 2+ days we are there. Should or could he ask for special permission from his command, to go back in time for a day, with dear old Dad?
