Hi, I'm new here and would just maybe like to get some advice if there is anything to do. My son tweaked his back a bit right at the point of the final 1.5 mile test and missed the time by 14 seconds. For the next 10 times he was hurting pretty bad and slowed way down, but by the last attempt was able to come back to 12:29 again. The part that is frustrating is that he turns 20 in 12 days, which would make his time fine. It was such a bummer for us all to be so close. His recruiter convinced him to go early, I wish he hadn't. Now he's in SEP

I can only imagine your frustration. Hopefully there are no real medical issues. I hope you all have a good outcome.
Jim
That's the confusing part to me. They actually asked him if he wanted a medical discharge or a pfa discharge. He chose pfa discharge so it would be easier to go back. We have really good insurance, otherwise I'd be concerned that they're sending him home with a possible herniated disk for us to fix. If we didn't have first rate insurance, we'd be screwed. I was always under the impression that if you were hurt in the military, they had to fix you. Just seems strange to me. Thank you for the reply. We will be glad to have him home in truth. Just a frustrated dad here, we'll get him fixed and see what he wants to do. The twelve day part is still the most frustrating.
So sorry to hear this Jim, but, if you go to the Ship 5 group page, pay close attention to RE codes. Many times a person can re-enlist with the proper waiver from a doctor. Don't loose hope just yet. Let him come home, see a doctor about his back, the go to the recruiter's office again.
Good luck
