my son is at Great Lakes right now and is scheduled to graduate on 7/15 and then he goes to A-school in MS.After that he will be in Groton CT for Sub school and I was wondering when does my son and me know what Sub he will be assigned to / Or which site I need to go to so I know . Thank you

I agree with Jim, one step at a time; he won't get orders to a boat until he finishes all of his schools; at some point he will fill out a "dream sheet" that the Detailers use to assign people, he'll have to choose a type of Sub and and 3 homeports in order of personal preference , then they typically get assigned by a combination of class ranking, evaluations, and "needs of the Navy"; I would strongly encourage him to work hard in order to help his chances of getting a shot at what he wants.
My son did not learn which sub he would be assigned to until after his final classes in Groton. He was then assigned to a boat in Pearl Harbor. I hope this helps.
