My son is in Yokosuka and has recently completed indoc. He is apparently going to meet the ship this morning. Thanks to today's electronic advances, we have kept in touch several times a week via email, texting, and Facebook.
But, he has asked me to send him some documents. He has given me the email address below. Can anyone verify that I am writing it correctly so that it arrives and doesn't get lost in limbo?
'Rate' Last, First MI
USS George Washington
CVN 73
FPO AE 09550-2873
If I put this on an envelope as written, will it get there or am I missing something?

I don't know the particulars of where your son is, so I'm showing you what I have. Your son may be different that this, not knowing what department or section he is in, so it will probably be different. I was told to PRINT IN CAPITAL LETTERS EVERYTHING on the ADDRESS:
ABH1 (LAST NAME, FIRST NAME)
AIR/V-1
USS GEORGE WASHINGTON
BOX 31
FPO, AP 96650-2801
So you may want to make one more verification of your sailor's address. Expect it to take between 2 to 6 weeks to get to him and do not bother with anything other than regular first class mail. Priority will not get it there any sooner, so don't waste your money.
that's the correct form, with the possible addition of what department/section your sailor is in though the Rating info takes care of that as well...an example, when my son was on the Theodore Roosevelt I added a Dept. AIMD to the address

Hope that helps.
