My son was recently sent to SEPS, because had a bad head ache, when he asked if he could have something for it, they told him that something is wrong with him and no meds till they find out what it is. Well the pain continued to get worse to the point where it became unbearable and he could no longer function, they said that he has a spinal problem, without a test or anything they sent him to ship #5 and pretty much washed their hands of him. Now he seems depressed because he was a week away from graduation and the USN was all he ever wanted to do.
I know he does not have a spinal problem, but we will have a specialist look at him and document it for us.

Paul already said one of the first things we tell those who are being separated. Make sure he signs that HIPPA waiver so the medical people can talk to you. Also, be sure to look at the chart for the re-enlistment codes. Some of the codes will not allow him to re-enlist without a medical waiver.
Good luck to you both!
Jim
We have a Ship 5 group at:
https://navydads.ning.com/group/ship5formerlyship17
read thru those discussions...be sure to have him sign a HIPAA release form or you can talk with legal and discuss his medical issues. Jim is our expert on Ship 5 and you'll hear from him as well....
