New Navy Dad living in Spokane Washington. My son has Recently enlisted and Arrived to Camp on the 28-29th of October. I may be off on the weeks but I believe he is starting week 3 on Monday the 18th. I am a Single Dad, and any help or support other Members here can provide would be greatly appreciated. While I my self did not enlist in the services, Our family has a long history of serving our country across Navy, Army, and Airforce. My son proudly enlisted to in his words Serve his Country and keep it Safe. With that he carries the Family name on for Service to Country.
I would like to at least send letters to him and show my continued support of him and all our Armed Forces. If anybody can share how to Find his Ship, Div and if he resides on Street or Drive, it would be very much appreciated. I dont believe he will be able to provide as His one call so far was a pep talk to him and no time to ask the address.
To All Members here that have served, Are Serving, and Parent or Parents of a current enlisted Sailor, Airman, Marine, or Army Soldier in our Armed Forces. I would like to extend my sincerest and Deepest Thanks and Appreciation for your Service and Sacrifice.
I did not realize that Parents are also serving right along their sons and Daughters.
Thank you again for all you do!!

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
I was Proud of his decision to Join the Service. I knew at that point, I had done all right and steered the ship straight raising him and instilling Good Values and Morals in Him. I have done nothing but brag on him to anyone that will listen to the story of his Journey to the Navy.

I hope you take the time to explore the site and make some new friends. Read the discussions and add your comments. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the direction to find out. And CJ this is a great place to brag as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how your son is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads page is an area we call Key Information. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should not talk about in a public forum like NavyDads.
As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what Quentin is going through. In the Navy Bootcamp group is a discussion called A MUST READ for all New Navy Parents. Read through this post as it will do a lot to give you some understanding about what your sailor is learning and why. And be sure to check out the videos available in the Bootcamp Group as well and as PIR nears be sure to spend time in the PIR group for hints and helps! To better understand how the Navy creates sailors, watch this video Making A Sailor to see what life is like at Great Lakes RTC.

Welcome aboard to NavyDads.com CJ! When my son first enlisted, I was a very scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. I had soon discovered that he had made the most mature decision of his life! I had lots of questions like I'm sure you do. We will be able to answer most, if not all, of you're questions. Please feel free to ask us anything.
My son Stephen was an AWO2 in the P-3 community. However, after 6 years of service, he was medically discharged in July of 2014. We are so proud of our son and his service to our country. I'm sure you will feel that same pride for you're son or daughter! This is the place to brag!
