Describe A Little About Yourself (your IP address/location will be checked::
My uncle Larry was in Pearl Harbor. He was one of only three engineers to get out of the USS Tennessee, which was the ship next door to the USS Arizona (and we all know what happened to THAT one). Uncle Larry was the reason my mom married my dad, so I would very much like to go on at least ONE Tiger Cruise and make at least ONE trip to Hawaii, to honor his memory and his sacrifices. I also other military family members, my dad, my grandfather, and my brother-in-law, but I don’t want to bore anyone with details unless they really want to know (brief summary: Dad was Nam, Papa Joe’s C.O. was General Patton—-yes, THAT Patton—-and my brother-in-law was Army Ranger—-killed by a tree during Hurricane Matthew while on Neighborhood Community Watch).

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:
I was amused when my mom divulged he lied about his age so that he could enlist. And I was also amused when she told me the story he regaled to her while he was on shore leave post-Pearl Harbor, that he was on deck and spotted the torpedo coming—-and when she got older he finally told her where he really was and what he really went through. When she confronted him about it, he simply replied, “You don’t tell the unalterated truth to a little kid.”

Welcome aboard to NavyDads.com Kathryn! When my son first enlisted, I was a little scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. What I found, was that he had made the most mature decision of his life! I found lots of answers to my questions right here on NavyDads.com.
My son Stephen was an AWO2 in the P-3 community. However, after 6 years of service, he was medically discharged in July of 2014. We are so proud of our son and his service to our country. I'm sure you feel that same pride for you child. This is the place to brag!

1) Don't think the Navy is doing Tiger Cruises right now due to Covid
2) In the past you needed a sponsor on the ship: i.e. only a family member or friend can sponsor you
If you have any comments, questions or concerns be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the direction to find out. And Kathryn this is a great place to brag as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let everyone know how you are doing!
Best Regards- Paul
