Phil my son has been a at. for quite a few years he has always pretty much enjoyed his job. josh is on shore duty in Hawaii at the current time . he was on the USS Vinson a carrier for 6 or 7 months . they ended up in the persion gulf . the carrier and the aircraft were supporting the grunts on the ground in Iraq.
Phil it gets better. My son is 9 months in and stationed in San Diego on the USS Ronald Reagan. He is an ABE on the flight deck working with the catapult system and launches the aircraft. So the good part is that he is in SD and what could be better than that. But I can't help but sharing his special duty. I spoke to him the other day and he told me he was on dumpster duty. So I asked, what is dumpster duty? So he told me it was exactly what it says, his duty that day was to stand in front of the dumpsters for four hours to make sure no one got in their trash. So after hearing that I learned that the Navy's trash must be protected and the documents and such in it must not fall into others hands. So the Navy has a long list of odd jobs for our new Sailors. I thought this was a funny one, so I wanted to share.

Phil, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy dads just like myself.
