Proud daughter of a retired Navy captain who Graduated from OCS in 1970-71. Also the grandaughter of a world war II navy veteran whom im uncertain of his rating but he actually served during the war. My father was in active duty when i was born in 1973 @ Norfolk, Va at the naval hospital. Now, my father never saw any war time during his service, but was a reserve Naval officer for many of my years from child into adulthood.
My dad's 1st commissioned ship was the USS McCandless. He also decommissioned this ship as well. My reason for joining this group is, Just to be here as part of the Navy family & show support for the branch my dad & grandfather both joined & loved serving in.

Welcome aboard to NavyDads.com Shanin! When my son first enlisted, I was a little scared and worried for him. Not coming from a military family at all, I had no idea what to expect. What I found, was that he had made the most mature decision of his life! I found lots of answers to my questions right here on NavyDads.com.
My son Stephen was an AWO2 in the P-3 community. However, after 6 years of service, he was medically discharged in July of 2014. We are so proud of our son and his service to our country. I'm sure you feel that same pride for you child. This is the place to brag!
