  • In case you haven't heard yet.. We now have sailors in Chicago..I didn't personally get the call, but her Boyfriend and Mom did.. Only a week to go, and we get to see them!!!
  • Got a letter Saturday, and another today.. She says they are really busy.. and she is concerned about her ankle. she got that cellulosis early on and has been on meds pretty much the whole time. She fears that she will be set back 2 weeks so she is trying her best to "train through the pain" as she puts it. Her other concern from a couple weeks ago was the 3rd written test. That was scheduled for today, and I will stick with the no news is good news theory. She said they did the gas chamber on the 25th and she was on the first row. She said she was nervous, but after they took off the mask it really wasn't that bad. Then they had to do "drill" with the masks off for an emergency and get on the ground.. THATS when it hit, instantly eyes swelled and she had to spit really bad.. everything was on fire. For some reason she said the first row was there about 2 minutes longer then the rest. she said they all looked like a train ran over them for the rest of the day. Best I can tell. BS will be Wednesday and we should get the "I'm a Sailor" call sometime Thursday afternoon. Kinda funny but I hope I dont get a call untill Thursday, if you know what I mean. I hope all is going well with Christina.
  • Got a letter today, written Monday the 22nd. Says that someone told on someone for something and no one would confess, so they all lost phone privilages until Sept. 2nd after Battlestations...She says her ultimate goal now is to get out of there on time. She gets over stressed when it comes to tests.. :) And she knows the next one (on the 30th) is a very important one. One chance and if you don't pass.. it's back 2 weeks with another division.
  • are you planning to attend the meet and great on the 9th of Sept.? How far are you having to travel for PIR? I'm hoping to get a letter today.. but with all the activities going on up there.. I'm not sure... She writes to here sister and her mom, and her Boyfriend and I, so we all pretty much share the info, to get a better idea of what's happening.. I have recieved 3 letters and two phone calls.. Starting to get excited about PIR..
  • P.S.

Terry, glad to see you up & running. Sorry about the glitch.
  • Welcome to NavyDads !

Play the following video for a brief introduction to NavyDads.com

  • Welcome to NavyDads.com Terry! I'm sure you'll find NavyDads as useful, educational and informative as I have. Please explore the site and make some new friends. Read the discussions and add your comments. Browse through the postings in the various groups or start a new one. I certainly have! If you have any comments, questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...be sure to post them! In my experience someone here can answer your questions or concerns or can point you in the direction to find out. I'm blessed to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) is stationed on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) just completed her enlistment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Terry this is a great place to brag as well! So join in, get active, and be sure to let us know how Christina is doing! Please remember that we talk about the Navy here and we must keep the security and safety of our sailors and the fleet in mind. On the right or starboard side of every NavyDads page is an area we call About This Site. Please take a minute and read through the Operations Security (OPSEC) link for some guidelines as to what we should and should not talk about in a public forum.

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your daughter is going through. In the Navy Bootcamp group is a discussion called A MUST READ for all New Navy Parents. Read through this post as it will do a lot to give you some understanding about what your sailor is learning and why. And be sure to check out the videos available in the Bootcamp Group as well.

As PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul
  • Terry, Welcome Aboard!

When my son first enlisted in the Navy I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to his future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads but found out I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and hope this site will benefit fathers that follow behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Christina for her service for me and thanks again for joining us.

    Sincerely, E.G.
