  • WHM-hows your son holding up? not sure if he met Tony yet.Tony is doing well, a little homesick ...wanted family photo.but I think most recruits do. snowing hard here today...hope its nice for PIR in Jan.
  • My Jon is also Div 803. Navy Diver. It is good to connect with other 803 Dad's. He commented in a letter that being "on-spot" was brutal. His recruiter told us that 803 would have PT regularly and have long days. He said it was prep for their next step.....
  • Just read your son made A-ROC .good for him .big honor.hope he inspires my son to be his best. tony turned 18 in august . still a kid with big ambitions. I can't wait to see his transformation from kid to young man.his last letter said div 803 is to be the example of perfection.good luck to them all.
  • I haven't been on the site lately. Good to hear from another dad in this division. My son signed a 6yr contract for rescue swimmer...A school in Pcola. Maybe we'll see you at PIR.
  • Hello fellow "boot camp" dad! I think things get a bit easier as time goes on. I am really looking forward to receiving a call or letter from my son. I got his contact address last week and was able to get off a few letters to him. Hang in there. PIR will be here before we know it. I'm sure our respective sons will be much different - stronger and more confident than when we left them. PIR will be a very proud moment!
  • WHM, Welcome to NAVYDADS and SEAL Dads (NSW) Group. When you have a chance be sure to read Posting on NSW Forums (this is a must read) on the SEAL Dads (NSW) page. Everyone here is ready and willing to help answer any question you have regarding this long journey your Son or loved one is starting. Tell your Son that my Family and I appreciate his desire to join the Navy and we are Proud of his decision. He will be in our thoughts and we wish him the best.
  • Welcome to NavyDads Bill! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Bill this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Jordan is doing!

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul
  • Bill, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Jordan for his service for me and thanks again for joining us.
    Sincerely, EG
