  • Warren- you are going to find PIR a wonderful experience....seeing the changes in your Sailor will meake you feel ten feet tall with pride. He may have left as a teenager but seeing him march into the drill hall with his division
is a great experience. There is a shuttle that runs between most of the hotels in the area and the base....that's the way to go as traffic greats CRAZY so be sure to ask when you register....I believe it's still very inexpensive ($3 each when Eric PIR'd in March '07). Get there early.....the place fills up fast. Each division will have an area marked for seating in the bleachers that is essentially directly in front of whey they will come to rest. It's chaos when liberty is announced to prepare to battle "millions" of fresh Sailors and theri families trying to meet up. I let out a HUGE Corona yell that Kat and Eric were both able to generally orient themselves to.

And...no matter how much testosterone is flowing, you'll probably be bawling like a baby.....lot's of us other dads have.....I did twice!!! Be sure to get a DVD of the PIR because it's really hard to film it on your own.........Enjoy!!

  • Warren thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your Son for his service for me.Good luck and thanks again for joining. EG
