my name is anita, i have 2 children, my son is in the navy, an i have a beautiful daughter whom is down syndrome, my husband and i live in montana, and work rescuing animals, and any other of gods creatures in trouble,our newest is a tarantula , scary i no but it has a heart beat, and dissevers a comfortable life, as all living things do. we are very proud of our son, and pray, for his safenesses, and his happiness, he is such a really fun son to have.

What Were Your Feelings When Your Sailor Joined The Navy:

i cried, fear came rushing over me complete denial, i said to myself johns just messing with me,right up to the day he left, its funny looking back cause as he drove away i chased his u-haul, crying, and begging for him to turn around, now I'm so thankful to the navy it has given my son purpose ,an carries himself with such pride.

    Anita, sorry you got a curt answer, I think I know the one you mean and I was a little taken aback by it as well, but in thinking about it more I don't believe the author meant it the way it sounded... at any rate, yes, I know the maze of acronyms is confusing. If you look on the main page of this web site, there is a link to a list of all the more common ones used, which can help. If you think it appropriate, you should view the video's showing boot camp,etc. to your daughter, to try and help her understand where her brother has gone. Tell her what a good thing it is that he is doing. If I can answer any of your specific questions I would be glad to help, my wife and I know what it is like to share the fears and concerns, can't imagine going it alone so you will have to be strong for you, your daughter and your Corpsman. Ron

    Hello Anita, what are your questions? My son just returned from Iraq 3 weeks ago, so of course we too worry when he will be re-deployed to Afgan-land, but... this is the course our sons have chosen, and it is not a bad decision, even if dangerous at times. Just think of the mothers and fathers who have sons who have chosen a life of drugs or crime... just as much or more danger, with no redeeming results or pride in accomplishments. Your son obviously has great talent to have made into the ranks of corpsman, no small feat. Take a deep breath, thank God you have a great son that you can be very proud of, and be strong for him in these weeks and months to come. Again, let us know what your questions are, there are many fathers here who can try to answer them... Ron

    Anita, Welcome Aboard!

    My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. We have many moms on the site and benefit greatly from their point of views and we are willing to help the moms in any way we can. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your Sailor. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy.     Welcome to NavyDads Anita! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun, useful, and educational as I have. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors in the family - my son Eric (AM3) recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat (MC3) returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72).
