  • Hey Joe!.....Sierra is presently awaiting her "A" school schedule wait........She is happy with her new surroundings. She has made new friends.......Her only complaint is that many of them only want to go out and DRINK on the weekends. (She does not drink!...TG!)..She is only 19 and is aware of the problems that could arise with those who want to drink, yet are underage......She said that many places will serve beer to underage kids, just because they are in uniform.!............What to do!!!!!................Remind your underage kids to stay clean!........This problem could really mess them up!......Not Preaching....just caring!......
  • Hey Joe.. I was talking to James a little after i posted the last message and was explaining to him about your wanting to see Brandy and he said there is a couple of ways to do it.He tried to explain it to me,but i had to stop him because there is no way i would have remembered all of the stuff. If you want to e-mail me i will in turn e-mail you James address and you can have Brandy go see him at ECS barracks and he will explain to her the steps she needs to take to get home for a week-end or for you to see her on base, even during phase one.If you are interested you can e-mail me at ksbaker@compprime.com ..... hope this will help!

    Steve !!!!!!!!

  • Hi Joe..... Yes,everything is good with my son,James.I talked to him Saturday for a bit.He is quite anxious to get the remainder of his training going so he can get on to California and get settled in.As far as where he went to b.c. yes he also went to G.L.Sorry to hear that you all won't be able to go to graduation.Quite a sight to see!We flew to G.L. to James graduation since it would have been 2000 miles to either that or Gulf Port and the family(his mom and little bro)were ready to see him after that short of time.At least you will be close to where Brandy has "A" school. That will make it great as you will be able to spend a fair amount of time visiting.James was grad and go so we only had about 3 hours in the whole day to visit.

As for where your daughter will fly in,i have no idea.I do know that new sailors have a number to call once they arrive so the duty officer can come out and pick the new arrivals up.Also figure on Brandy not arriving till late on Friday night if she leaves O"Hare right after graduation.I think James got in there at like 11:30 Friday night. It makes for a long day,but all new sailors need to get used to it!Well time to get ready for work. You have a great day and i will talk to you later!
    Steve !!!!!!!!!!
  • Welcome to NavyDads Joe! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric just returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat returned last fall from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Joe this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Brandy is doing!

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your daughter is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!

Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. Best Regards- Paul
  • Joe, Welcome Aboard!

My son is an ABE aboard the USS Ronald Reagan in San Diego, Ca. and my family and I couldn't be prouder of him. When he first enlisted I found NavyForMoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Brandy for her service for me and thanks again for joining us.

    Sincerely, EG
