I'm not sure what my son job title is considered to be . He went into advanced computer electronics . I was wondering what abbreviation that falls under.

Actually alot of the AECF ET's and FC's are set in basic. alot of it has to do with how they perform and test scores in basic. My son went in as an AECF and half way through basic he wrote to tell us that he had scored well enough to be an ET. he just a month ago got stationed in San Diego for his C-schools. While he was in his A-school in Great Lakes, he tested high enough to be put into satellite communications.
If your recruit is in the AECF program they could spend up to a year in great lakes between Basic and A-School. Depending on how the classes fill up. My son left for basic in June 08, PIR'ed in August 08, got out of A-school in May 09 sent to San Diego June 09 for a school.
I hope that this helped you out some.
My son is in the same field, AECF. The two ratings associated with this field are Electronics Technician (ET) and Fire Controlman (FC). I am led to believe that the choice is made by evaluating the sailors aptitude for each during A school. Unfortunately, he/she is not able to choose the rating they would prefer. I think it has a lot to do with the needs of the Navy at the time of training.
that could fall under several ratings depending on speciality and need-- ET Electronics Tech or IT Information Systems tech or even IC Interior Communications electrician
