This is Jan……. I wanted to add a side note. Please keep in mind the security that surrounds this position. Its best if you use PM’s or emails to discuss what’s happening this week. The instructors carry a Blackberry and can read the various websites. Your guy, and his fellow teammates, is the ones who will pay for the posting with punishment. I stopped saying “if” our GS becomes a SEAL and began using “when” three months before he went to Coronado. I saw it in his demeanor and the way he spoke. He had unbreakable determination. With that said I’ll tell you the same thing as GP. I still worried through each phase of training. There are many challenges to come so take each of them one step at a time. You will survive. “Love is strong enough to carry you through anything!”
Good Luck to each of you and your guys. We’ll be keeping them in our thoughts and look forward to hearing about how much fun they had during the week.
The time is near, soon the Starting Gun will be fired. The timing will be a surprise to those starting their journey. For those who live in or are visiting Coronado they will be surprised but they will know not to call 911 it’s just the Navy. While the guys are expecting this they will loose their breath and sense of direction from the noise. Everyone hold on tight we are in for a bumpy ride.
HooYah Class 299, be strong, be safe give them ****.
“HOO YAH 299!!!!!!!!!!!”
Everyone, a long day is about to start and I am hoping each of you are now on caught up on sleep and getting your mind wrapped around what is about to happen. All thought it was over 20 Classes ago it is still fresh in our memory and we have referred back to it several time as the training continued on through the next Phases.
One of the major Milestones is near and I though I might give you some of my thoughts on what will be happening. This will be the 297th time young men have faced this week of challenge and I am sure that each of the guys and their Loved Ones experienced the same feelings you are having now. For whatever reason some of the guys won’t make it through this week. I know some that did not make it through the first few hours. The good side is that I’ve never heard of a Loved One who didn’t make it through this week of training. Everyone will survive, some will be taking another path in the Navy, some may be rolled back, and some will finish; but each of you will be there at the end to cheer them into the next phase of Navy life. There are some things I will not post on a public site but have no problem talking about in private, so please feel free to PM me if you have questions or just want to talk. Each of you should be very proud of what your guy has accomplished to date, and regardless of how this week turns out, he has done what very few have even tried. My Family and I feel that each guy in class is a winner even if they do not make it to the end. I wouldn’t have attempted that path 47 years ago regardless of my fitness or background. This is something that many dream of but very few accomplish. As we went through “Hell Week” I kept telling myself “No news is good news.” Then I’d remember “The Only Easy Day was Yesterday”. Those two thought are a rollercoaster of emotions and you will experience every single one. When this is over and you are talking with your guy listen for and watch the way he tells about what he experienced. He will be proud, smiling, and tell you that it wasn’t that hard. As the weeks good by and you hear about what is going on ask your guy if the week was as hard a HW. My GS has told me he would rather go through HW again than some of the weeks that are ahead of them. Please remember that everything happens for a reason. Be Proud of your guy and encourage him regardless of this week’s outcome. Be his support and listen. Always tell him how proud you are of his life accomplishments and to look toward the future. It too brings reward and pride. (If he decides to drop accept that decision. He will have time to make a decision on his next step. Listen and SUPPORT. Life isn’t ending.)
Remember to keep your feelings and all you learn this next week with you at all times. It will not be the last time you have this experience. Remember, this is the middle of Phase I. You must still face Phase II, Phase III, and SQT before you reach the goal. (And yes, there are those who drop or are rolled through all of the additional training.)
I have gone on for to long so now I will let my wife proof read this. I cannot post long messages or make any decision with out my wife’s approval except off of a menu and she has the right to over rule that choice.

Thanks
HooYah Class 299!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone heard how the class did their first week? How many are still with the class?
Our guys are moving to Phase housing tonight. My son said he was having a great time yesterday doing a 2-1/2 mile ocean swim but then got freaked by some dolphins that swam right up to him! Blessings and the very best encouragement to all of our sons!
Afternoon Gents,
Just wanted to say hello am glad to be part of this group.
Any of you previous or current anchor clankers, bubbleheads or brown shoe types?
Glad to read your message, Sam. At least you got something. My son hasn't texted a word, even when I texted him to say "please send me even a few words." So I have no idea what's going on since he left GL.
Looks like they got started today. Anyone hear from their sons on how inprocessing went? My son said he was busy all weekend preparing for today and could only text me.
