Our son will report to Pensacola from the RTC in mid-November to begin the CTT-AEF training. I believe he will be starting out with 9 weeks of CTT Prep. School at NATTC. This will be followed by 9 weeks of A school and 18 weeks of C school.
I don't think he will have earned any leave time by Christmas so our family would like to visit him at Christmas time if he can spend any time with us.
Does anyone know if he is likely to have any personal time to spend with family during Christmas?
Thanks,
David Keith

Thanks, that's very helpful. Since we're traveling (from Florida) to Great Lakes for his graduation on Nov. 13th I don't think we'll go for Thanksgiving. But we may try for Christmas.

re: whichever holiday that your sailor gets stuck in Pensacola: He will have those days off unless he has duty. She thinks they get duty every 4th day. If your sailor is on duty on Christmas day or New Years' day (or any day) they could have visitors, but they cannot leave the base. Hope that helps. I guess you will have to wait to hear which holiday your sailor will get to go home for, hopefully there is enough advance notice to get decent price flights home, and/or for you to get down there.
Hi David-
My sailor was there 3 years ago, she says it's 'holiday stand down' for the students, and he will either get Christmas off, or New Years Day (I think they get a week off either way). I guess it's a 50/50 chance, but he can come home for one of the holidays. I'll try to find out what they do on the holiday that they don't get off.
