The journey begins

My daughters PIR was on 16 Dec., we attended and it was considerably different than I remember of my own PIR (08/75). The base was entirely different as well, with new barracks, drill halls, chapel, etc... Her PIR was small with only 416 graduates. Her group also had a week less boot camp than normal, I guess so they didn't graduate on either the Christmas or New Year weekends. Her liberty after PIR was short, we had to have her back at base at 1900 as all the sailors that were goin to Class A schools had to be at O'Hare airport at 0200 Saturday morning. She made it to Charleston late Saturday evening. Almost as soon as she checked into nuke school (she'll be an ET N) she was told to run a leave chit as she was going home for the holidays because there was nothing going on that she could do until after the new year. I sure hope she has as good luck in her future career as she's had at it's start!

  • Congrats, our daughter graduated boot, Nov 6 and had 776 in her graduating class. I bet it was chilly. We are so proud as you are, enjoy the holidays with her. Which rate did she choose?
