  • computers and cell phones make it nice, we have chatted with our son when he was out at sea. The emails were backed up for days, but he could use the ships computer and chat on facebook. when his ship is in port he can call on his cell, or use his laptop on his cell modem.
  • Okay so I am a truckdriver. I hope many fathers come to this group because I know many of us are travelers. Whether it be in a car or a truck we are away from home and many times know how our Navy recruits feel when things are happening at home and we can't be there with our families. Sometimes it is lonely out there and you think of them and think am I the only one feeling this way? I thank God for cell phones...at least I can talk to my sailor when he calls. Our first son was in the Navy before cell phones and before computers .. and when he called from Japan I was not home...At least this will not happen again... I HAVE A CELL PHONE!

On the Road while our Sailors are on Duty

I don't know how many other parents are away from the computer on a daily basis. I know I drive a truck and love my child. He is in Pensacola now and will be home for Christms for a week. Because of my work I will only have three days at home with him...but I will enjoy every second of it. I know it is hard for us to come on and talk but think many times as I travel the roads I am thinking about our young people who give service to our country. I am a proud Navy dad and am proud of our children.
