WOW, I get to start the first discussion. What is it really like to be a Navy Mom? Excitement over watching your loved one pursue their dreams? Being a part of a world that is vast and exciting, supporting each other as we support our loved ones. What's it like for you?

its been over a year since I started this discussion. In that year, I have learned alot about being a NAvy Mom. I am so proud of my Seabee. I look at him in awe at the man he has become, the pride he has in doing his job. I marvel at the way his wife is very supportive of him, and all that the NAvy has done for him

Being a Navy Mom is an honor. I am very proud of being a Navy Mom. I am active in a few groups over on N4M's, I love to talk to other moms about their sailors, and about things that concern us all. I love to share my interests and hobbies.. and most of all to offer my support
I agree with Navydcparent! The Sailors not only have so much already on their shoulders, but when their significant other does not understand, or accept the demands on their time, energy, and attention..... problems occur. I am so proud of my two Sailors, and so grateful for the N4M site as well as this site for info and support! It enables me to support my Sailors if I have a better understanding of what they have to do in their everyday lives! I am so proud of my sons, and the commitment they have made, and the pride and respect they have, and the men they have grown into. I am also proud of the educational opportunities available to them, and I know they will grow even more because of it. When I see my Sailors in uniform, I get teary and they think I am just being a mom, "STOP IT" LOL They are young but someday they will be parents and will understand the whole "pride, fear, love, parent" aspect of it all! God bless them all.
You said it all...I can add, that being Navy Mom comes with the responsibility of being the backbone when times are tough and bringing the clarity to a tough situation.
It is also imperative that we, as role models, teach young wives/spouses to be more mature and develope more of this backbone, strength and clarity for their Sailor. It makes the Sailor's life so much better and safer; they are not distracted by things they cannot control while deployed.
My heart swells with pride when I think of my Son & Son-in-law in the Navy & my Son in the Army. My heart breaks because they are never stationed near one another & we live in the 4 corners of the US. My heart rejoices to see the men they have grown into. My heart quakes with fear when they are deployed & I hear news reports. Most of all, my heart is filled with love...
