I haven't been on here in awhile, I've been hanging around Navy4moms and the pir groups. Well, I just got home today from Great Lakes and my sons PIR. Absolutely the most Awesome event. I managed to hold back the tears until saying goodbyes(again). He is now settled into his room at Goose Creek. He told me he went shopping and has everything to get him started except a pillow...go figure. Any advice or words of wisdom as we go through this next phase of Navy life? Quoting another mother.. I made it through boot camp and so did my sailor!
I am so super proud. Been showing everyone The note he wrote at the bottom of the 'letter". He has his goals and career path all mapped out and he'll give it all he's got to make it happen. Joe said:
RPOC is quite an honor. They must have seen something they liked. That's gotta make you even prouder, if it's possible.
I just noticed I posted twice about getting the letters and first phone call above. Sorry about the repeat.
Cheryl, We got our first real letters on Thursday, July 21st and a 5 minute phone call on Friday, July 22nd. That's three weeks and a couple days after he left, so you have that to look forward too.
I knew my boy would be fine, but it's really good to hear him asy he's fine, and he's kept his sense of humor.
Cheryl, sounds like your son is about 3 weeks behind my son. We got our first letters, about 8 pages front and back yesterday, Thursday the 21st and a quick call this morning, Friday the 22nd, only about 5 minutes. He's doing well and keeping his sense of humor. Hopefully you can gauge when you'll receive more word from my experieince.

Got the form letter today. Carl is in ship 7 division 304. He was made R-POC of his division. Just a few line note but he seemed extremely excited.
