  • Thank you for the info Joe. My son Buck is going to be a diver if all goes as planned. The recruiter said that only 70% pass "a" school, but I think he'll be fine. Buck was a depper for 15 months and worked out at the ymca to stay in shape. They have to pass thier pst once a month, and can't fail it more than two times once they qualify, or they're dropped. We did have a scare when he took it while recovering from tonsilitis. He failed the run by 10 seconds, and it was 30 days before he left. He passed the next week, and all is well now.
  • Hi Joe, I saw that you had a fifth person in your group, and I had a couple of questions for you. Did they give you a hard time at the gate about bringing an extra person, we have six? Is the visiters center far from the gate, and can they wait till pir is over if they cant get in? If you don't know that is fine, you are just the only person I've seen on here that has taken more than four. Congrats on your daughter becoming a sailor. My son is currently in bootcamp, and scheduled to pir 4/24. We recived our first letter a couple days ago, and he is pretty homesick right now. My wife and I are both navy vets and realize that is normal for kids laeving home for the first time go through this. We know he will be fine.
  • thanks for the info. I will tell my son to order one. The plans are going well I think were ready to go! I just got a letter today and it sounds like everything is going well.
I can't wait to see him!
  • Joe,
Did you notice where they were selling the division tee shirts?
    thanks
    Mike
  • My son is in 108 so we will see you guys either Thursday night or friday
  • Welcome to the cryptology group. We may post non sensitive things on the public group. However, we need to keep confidential information to emails. My daughter is also CTI but still at Great Lakes.

  • Welcome to NavyDads Joe ! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what she is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is on the second half of a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Joe this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Caitlin is doing! Best Regards- Paul
  • Joe, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your daughters journey in the Navy. Thank Caitlin for her service for me. Thanks again for joining us.
    Sincerely, EG
