so my son arrived at Corry station this week and has been placed in a temporary barracks. Today he sent me a text saying that he was going to be placed in a barracks that is better know as the " ghetto " lol. What surprised me more than anything was to find out the have no internet access in this one set of barracks. From what I've been told all others have Internet access except the ghetto. Just seems to me that in this day of age wireless internet is almost a give me and can be found just about any place. Except for the ghetto apparently. Does anyone know if these barracks have at least cable supplied to them. Seems any amount of time without Internet access or some form of entertainment would cause one to climb the walls from time to time.

Jim, let's hope that your sailor is resourceful and smart enough to make the best of it. Yes, he may have to pay for some of those services, but I'm sure he'll survive. I can't say that I've heard of any area or barracks in Pensacola so bad to be called the ghetto.
Make sure you tell your son, welcome to Adult.......hood. No, that's not in the Hood, it is the Hood. The one where he learns to pay his way, for everything. My now E-4 was broke all the time. Paid for his cable, internet, food, and haircuts.
Tell him welcome to the real world.
