  • My son is a DC on Shiloh, been onboard since January. Saw this board and thought I would join up.

  • Well my son pulled a big surprise for his mom. He had told her that he would not be in till net spring but I picked him up dec 14 and had lunch with mom. Sur was not here long 13 days but ther sure were good.
  • well got a call from cody this weekend and he let us know that he will try to get back to the states next Set. They were working a lot and that he would be glad when the big inspection is done on the ship.

  • My son returned June 1 after a 3 year assignment on the Shiloh and is now assigned to Corpsman A school in San Antonio. He saw India, Thailand, Malaysia, Okinowa, Hong Kong, South Korea, The Phillipines plus other bases in Japan. He was able to play on the base football team, climbed Mount Fuji, visited the Empore's palace in Tokyo besides many other places. He found the ship to be demanding at times, a pain at times, a little unnerving at times and great fun at other times (just like most other workplaces). Your son will enjoy Japan. We visited for ten days over the holidays and really enjoyed the base facilities, Yokosuka and the surrounding area. It can be a real adventure. Best wishes to your son, get there if you can swing it.

  • My Son just arrived in Yokosuka on Sunday and will be joining the crew of the Shiloh.  We are very excited for him, but will miss him very much while he is gone (including his little Sister).  Any thoughts for a new Navy family?2474942861?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • Haven't heard much from Yokosuka lately other than the inspectors were being nit-picky and the Shiloh crew has been working plenty. Any other news??

  • Cat a call for Cody last night. He told me that they have been working long hours getting read to put out and that he would be back to his job in the next few weeks. Sure was good to hear from him.

  • Jack and Ed...My son is home for the new year.  He just got off cranking (KP) before he returned.  Normally we skype on weekends (late Friday in the States).  he aqlso has a phone with skype capabilities and I text him sometimes during the day when he is not down inside the ship.

He says they work all the time eventhough they get the job done early the ship will not release them to the barracks.  He is hoping for a rating by June otherwise he is going to request for an early release so he can go back to school.

  • The days of cranking. Cameron took us to the "green room" where they proccess and dispose of garbage and told a story or two. I think the ship is still undergoing a number of repairs. The time difference makes it harder for them to call. I was very impressed with the Shiloh sailors that I met or observed.

  • Returned from our visit the 30th of December. Got to tour the ship and meet several sailors on board. Went to the Imperial Palace with a group of Shiloh sailors and family members. What a great time!
