Thanks for responding back. My hope for Aaron is he gets his wish of fast attack. Funny I tried to steer him to subs but he was insistant on carriers. then he goes to his classification and after hearing the chief he decides that subs sound a whole lot better. So we will see what comes we have a long way until he gets to his first boat
  • Once you are in the group, when you click Join you should get a message bar (green) across the top indicating that you've joined. I just did in the nukes group and joined with no problem.

I'm guessing you have a comm problem of some sort....try exiting the page, close Explorer or whatever browser. Restart the browser, get back into the site and try again...otherwise you might have to try a re-boot.

    Let me know......
  • Hi, Mark. Amidst all of the parents I've stumbled across on the several forums I frequent, sub sailor parents are in the minority - 'cause sub sailors are!

Paul is on the USS Cheyenne (SSN773) homeported out of Pearl Harbor. That's a fast attack boat. Your son is on a boomer, I see.

I wrote a little ditty about my experience, you can find it here:

If the picture link doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll send it to you.

What's your son's rate? How long? Looking forward to talking more!
  • Check in with Kenorian (CLICK LINK HERE) as he did a Tiger Cruise on his son's boat.....also be sure to spend time in the Sub Dads group!
  • Mark, Welcome Aboard!. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your son for his service for me and thanks again for joining. Sincerely, EG
  • Welcome to NavyDads Mark! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is almost two months into a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Mark this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Matthew is doing! Best Regards- Paul
