I was told his recruiter is on maternity leave and i could also get his address on Monday maybe they will graduate the same day best wishes to you and your family tell Kev thank you when you write ...take care gregg
Thanks much for the information, it goes a long way towards settling the frayed nerves of my wife and myself. Being from a large family, when Bobby does get mail, he will get swamped. Also glad to here they are so deligent in their commitment to our saliors. I keep thinking back to the days I spent in BC, things have changed quite a bit.

first- everyone will go out of their way to get mail to the right recurit at whatever address- having the incorrect street should not be a negative factor.
second- your son probably won't get his mail until he is a couple of weeks into the program-- mail is used as a reward for the division coming together and starting to think and act as a unit. Don't get worried if YOU don't hear from him as well....remember that the first couple of weeks are used to help break the ties to home and that they are only allowed, in the first part of boot to write on Sundays...meaning Thursdays are the most likely days for you to receive mail. Also remember that mailing supplies are only available at the NEX meaning he has to get the ok to walk there and back and have the money to purcahse those supplies...advise in your mails to send either postage paid postcards or stamped envelopes to make it easier for him to send you mail.

As a parent of a sailor currently or soon to be at Great Lakes you'll have many questions about what your son is going through. Thanks to one of our members we have two excellent videos that you can access from the Video area on the NavyDads.com main page: New Bootcamp 1 of 2 and New Bootcamp 2 of 2. These videos will answer many of your questions and concerns and will give you a better understanding of how the United States Navy transforms our children into sailors!
Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailor's PIR more enjoyable. And Paul- thank you for your service to our great country.Best Regards- Paul
Sincerely, EG
