  I'll tell you that the person to ask is At This Link. If you just click the highlighted, you'll go the the Ask a Recruiter group. Sean kindy donates his time as a 9-year Navy recruiter to answer questions from parents like yourself. You'll have to join the group to post- that's easy, just click the join group button and you can post whatever questions you may have. While I can give you an answer from my limited experience, Sean can much better answer questions like this.

  Timothy, Welcome Aboard!. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself.   Don't worry Timothy- a few weeks here on the site and you'll be throwing around Navy terms as if you were an old Master Chief!!! And and a Bravo Zulu (navy-speak for a job well done) on raising a fine sailor- you must have been very proud of having an honor recruit at PIR. Please share your thoughts and experience with PIR. I started a PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group so PIR veterans could make the experience easier and more enjoyable to others. Best Regards- Paul

  Hello this is my first comment, my son graduated boot camp on 10/24/08 he was in division 406. he was the honor recruit for that division. it was a proud moment for this whole family. he also was the yoman for the division.
  he now is in Pensicola Florida, and is an airman in the navy. he is going to A school to be an aviation machinist mate. i hope that's right spelling. i get to hear from him more often now. and he is very happy. he loves the navy and it really makes it easy for his mother and me. I'm not very military smart yet but hope to be soon with all of your help. God bless America. Go Navy!

  Welcome to NavyDads Timothy! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is a month into a seven-month deployment on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat just returned from her seven-month deployment on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Timothy this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how he is doing!
  
  Be sure to spend some time in the Bootcamp group- there are many questions and answers available to help you understand what your sailor is going through. And as PIR draws closer, be sure to spend some time going through the PIR-Tips, Hints and Helps group- we’ve tried to assemble some tips and suggestions to make your sailors PIR more enjoyable.
