  • Tom,
Thanks for getting back to me. My son has dropped of the face of the earth, as far as contacting us. I''m sure he's o.k., but still. He told me the first week there that the trainers were broken, that the BESS class before him graduated without the full training. He said they are disappointed in that. How can a guy properly learn about subs , if he doesn't practice escaping and putting out fires?? So much for funding our armed forces.

Thanks again, and please keep me posted on your son.

    Cordially, john in Georgia.
  • Dear Mr. Tom Struckman,

Thanks for posting that bit about the collision. I thought there would be more about it "out there", but probably the Navy wants it all info kept under cover.

Can i ask you a question or two about Sub School? My son is in his 3-4 th week now, there at Groton. If i could ask you privately , that would help. He told me something that has me a little concerned. I don't want to be overly concerned though. If you don't think it too much to ask.

    Cordially, John McKenna

P.S. At what point is your son in his training ?? Thanks. My son hopes to go to ETC school .
  • Tom, if all goes well Ray's PIR should be May 1 as well... we've only received one letter so far....
  • Hello Tom: My son Tyler arrived at GL on March 4th. I received a call (30 Seconds) and he said Ship 13, Div. 174. I see you ave Div. 175. I think Monday I will call recuriter to verify address. But both of our sons must be close to each other. I see that on Arpil 24th that Div. 173 graduates. Div. 174, 175 should be May 1st. Maybe ? By the way my brother's mailing address is Cleves, Ohio, but in Miamitown. He is on Navydads Profile, Dale Maris. Bill
  • Hi Tom I got his box today but no letter still don't know what division. I was hoping to get something with his his address and division I may just call his recruiter tomorrow. I hopefully I will get something soon. Have a good evening. Maria
  • Welcome to NavyDads Tom! I'm sure you'll find the site as fun and useful as I have. Explore and make some friends, add your comments to a discussion or two, read the postings in the various groups-- even start one or two. I have! If you have any questions or concerns about your sailor and what he is going through...ask! I'm sure someone here will have the answer or can point you in the right direction to find out. I'm lucky enough to have two sailors- my son Eric is on the second half of a seven-month cruise on the carrier Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and my daughter Kat recently returned from a seven-month cruise on the carrier Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). And Tom this is a great place to brag about your sailor as well! So join in and let us know how Dustin is doing! And Tom- thank you for your service to our great country! Best Regards- Paul
  • Tom, Welcome Aboard! I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud Navy Dads just like myself. I hope this site benefits you and your family throughout your sons journey in the Navy. Thank Dustin for his service for me and yours as well. Thanks again for joining us.
    Sincerely, EG
  • Tom welcome to navy dads. Hopefully you will find some of the answers you don't already know here and can answer some questions that others have that you might have experienced. thank you and your son for serving our country.
