  • Gary,

You're right! The only time I'm around them is at an air show or two during the year.  David went through BC in 2006 (I did it in 1971) and we missed him.  He actually went in as a SAR Swimmer but he developed a hernia in BC and had surgery, eliminating him from the program.  He was then given AO.  He spent 3 years at Joint Base Andrews in MD where he was also a member of the Aux. Security Force.  He has another season with the Blues before moving on.  All the best to your son!
    Mike

  • MIKE, IT'S NOT IGNORANCE, YOU JUST MAY NOT BE AROUND THEM THAT OFTEN. I WAS A SIKORSKY CREW CHIEF FOR YEARS, NOW I RUN THE FLIGHT OPERATIONS THERE. MY SON NICK GRADUATES NAVY BOOT CAMP AUGUST 3rd, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM, AND THE CHANGE. GOOD LUCK TO YOUR SON DAVID WITH HIS COMMITMENT WITH THE BLUE ANGELS, THAT'S INTENSE.

  • I didn't take it as criticism at all.  It was just helicopter ignorance on my part!

Yep, we're very proud of David and we're glad we've had a few chances to see him in action.  He still has another year to go so we might get to see him one more time.

  • WOW MIKE, I JUST LOOKED AT THE REST OF YOUR PHOTOS. YOU HAVE TO BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR SON BEING A BLUE ANGELS CREW CHIEF.

  • MIKE, I DID NOT MEAN TO BE CRITICAL, BUT IT WAS A REFLEX WHEN I SAW IT. I REALLY WANTED TO FOLLOW UP WITH GREAT PHOTO AFTER I WROTE MH53E. YOUR PHOTOS ARE GREAT.

  • MH53E - Sea Dragon (derived from the CH-53E Super Stallion)

  • Thanks, Gary!  There was no announcer at the airport.

  • SIKORSKY MH53E
