Battle stations

We have been waiting word from Kyle if he passed "Battle Stations".We learned late yesterday afternoon that he did indeed pass, by way of "facebook and girlfriend".Here we have been waiting on that important phone call. And who does he call, his girlfriend. You talk about a let-down. To top it off, my wife was reading her facebook page, she saw where Heather had posted Kyle's passing on it! My wife had to call Heather, to find out all the details. All in all, we are still very excited about him passing. We are leaving Georgia on Wednesday for the drive up to Illinois. We are wondering how much Kyle has changed since leaving our small town, back in May.WE ARE VERY PROUD OF OUR "SAILOR"Mike

  • Mike, my son graduated on June 5. He just finished A school on Thursday. He's an SK (storekeeper). He will be home for his two-week leave this Wednesday or Thursday before going on to Norfolk. Yes, I can hardly stand the wait. We only had him until 7 p.m. the day of graduation so I am really looking forward to this. I'm hoping he doesn't deploy right away, because that's only a day's drive from here.

I just witnessed a fire in the building next door to ours last week, so I would like to thank you and your wife for your dedication to your careers. It takes a lot of guts to run into a burning building when everybody else is running out.

  • Ms. Blantz,
The polite part, I cannot wait to see. Kyle was always taught while growing up to open doors for the ladies. But when we are with him and his girlfriend, his mom and I are forever after him to be more polite.
He tries to be one of the "macho guys". So this will be a big treat for his mom and his girlfriend.
You said your Sailor graduated back in May? Is he still in A school or has he already shipped out?
My wife is a paramedic, I'm a firefighter , so we appreciate the dedication needed to complete the jobs, these young men and women will be doing. Tell your sailor "THANK YOU" for serving our country and to be safe!!!

  • Oh, and as far as him changing, he will probably be pretty much the same except for really good posture and manners :) My son was always very polite anyway but the whole time we were together after PIR I didn't touch a door! And I don't know if it was the uniform or what, but I didn't know it was even possible for him to stand up that straight.
  • Congratulations on your new sailor! It's the best feeling in the world, isn't it? I do know how you feel, though. I got the "I'm a sailor call" back in late May and I was thrilled to death. Of course, a couple minutes into the conversation he asked me to look up his girlfriend's phone number because he couldn't read the last digit. Well, at least he didn't ask immediately.
  • Sounds like what my Sailor would do... Glad to hear Kyle is now an official United States Sailor. HooYah! I hope y'all have a safe trip and a great weekend at PIR. Send my congrats to Kyle.
